Domaine Jamet

Strong convictions since 1976...
Jean-Paul Jamet began making wine alongside his father Joseph in 1976.
He left school to start working with his parents in the family business. Together, they developed the vine-growing and wine-making work, but Jean-Paul quickly took the initiative and made decisions. With the experience of making forty wines, he was convinced that the beauty of the wines lay in the terroirs. Having been away from any successive methods, he promoted the different expressions of Côte Rôtie to increase their complementary features.
40 years later Jean-Paul now works alongside his eldest son, Loïc (who worked a harvest with us in South Africa in 2015), however, as Jean-Paul is in the habit of saying, cultivating vines on these great slopes is no easy feat and in this way, commands respect. The sub-soil is mainly composed of schist and to a lesser extent granite, translating into the elegance of the wines, and all of their vineyard practices have an appreciation for nature in mind.
