100% Pinot Noir. A cool year and late harvest produced a wine that is light in colour, but powerful in spirit. The aromas are of pure red fruits – rhubarb, strawberry, and lilly pilly (a tart pink native berry) – as well as fresh herbs – tarragon, river mint, and chervil. The palate is long and defined, with fleshiness and power that defies the colour. A superb reflection of grape, place, and vintage. 2020 was one of the coolest and latest seasons in the last decade. Very small yields made sure everything ripened well, in the end! All vineyards are farmed biodynamically, in the process of certification. 30-40 year-old vines, all are cane pruned, no tillage. Completely dry-grown volcanic soils. igorous sorting of grapes follows hand harvest in early April. Native yeast ferment, fully destemmed, pumped over once a day, and pressed after 3 weeks to older foudre. The only add is a small amount of sulphur. ABV 12.8%
