100% Chardonnay. This wine is from a vineyard that sits at the base of Mount Baw Baw in Victoria's Gippsland region. Aromas are raw, heady and gorgeous: praline, grapefruit, orange peel, honeysuckle and salt. It slips and slides over the tongue, then crunches with acidity, the finish long and citrusy. Made so solidly, it will last open in bottle for many days—if you can stand not to drink it all in one go. 2019 harvest presented some problems early on with consistent rain events right up until Christmas. Post Christmas, and into the all important ripening period we were gifted with plentiful sunshine with dry and warm conditions. The resultant wines show great tensions and richness which can be attributed the evenness of climate. These are the best example of single vineyard wines we have produced and now with the 2020 safely tucked away we are very confident about the future. Perched up high at 350m above sea level, Millstream vines are laid bare to the seasons and spend the winters gazing up at the snow capped Mt Baw Baw. The fruit is dry grown in volcanic soil and shows great richness combined with the hallmark tension of finesse so often seen in these rare soils. The wine spends 12 months in both old and new barrique (30% new). ABV 13%
