Like so many of these Piron Beaujolais wines, this has quite a heady florality. Parma violets and white pepper. The tannins cling to mushroom-scented purple fruit with velcro-like determination, but they're not thick or drying. Pencil lead dipped in ripe mulberries. Ink dust and rain on wrought iron. Lavender, especially on the finish – lavender lifting the finish on wings. The highest of the crus of Beaujolais (between 250 and 450 meters above sea level) has the most homogeneous soil of granite which decomposes slowly to form sandy arenas on the surface. Most of the vines are planted on hillsides and require a lot of manual work, it's a bit like the Côte Rôtie du Beaujolais! The mineral strength and the power of the rock gives airy and delicate wines, with intense fruity and endowed with a nice freshness. Grapes are harvested by hand, sorted over a table and partially destemmed. Fermentation and maceration for 12 to 15 days to structure the wine. ABV 12.5%
