Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Reserve des Vieilles Vignes'

Easily my favorite in the lineup, with medium to full-bodied richness, ripe tannin and beautiful concentration, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Vieilles Vignes has a textbook bouquet of red and black fruits, garrigue and peppery spice. It should easily be an outstanding wine and keep for a decade or more these are the wines from our oldest vines (75 to more than 100 years old) planted on our best exposed terroirs, for which we choose only the best barrels after a year of ageing. The working of the grapes is identical to that of all the red Châteauneuf-du-Pape produced on the Estate. The aging is more complex: after 12 to 15 months of aging in barrels, one-fifth of which is new, the best barrels are selected and blended. This wine is not filtered before bottling. ABV 14%
