Heinrich

Situated in Burgenland, to the far east of Austria (bordering Hungary) Gernot & Heike Heinrich produce some of the most compelling, mineral rich expressions of local favourite Blaufränkisch. The best sites are in the gentle hiills of the Leithaberg Mountain facing back SE over Lake Neusiedl, a large shallow lake barely 1.5m deep at its deepest point. They were so blown away by the restraint of the 2014 vintage, they’ve since pursued freshness in their wines & hold biodynamic certification. The varietal plays on dark forest berries, black cherries & spice, whilst retaining a real drinkability akin to lighter varietals. A favourite among the European sommelier set.
